A 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit Istanbul and surrounding areas, causing panic among residents. The quake, centered in the Sea of Marmara, lasted 30 seconds and was followed by 51 aftershocks. Over 150 people were injured, many after jumping from buildings in fear. The epicenter was 50 miles west of Istanbul, with tremors felt as far as Greece, North Macedonia, Romania, and Bulgaria.
