Bruce Springsteen’s Son Sam Sworn In as Jersey City Firefighter
Bruce Springsteen has spent decades singing about working-class grit and resilience, and now his youngest son, Sam, is living that reality firsthand. On Tuesday, the 26-year-old was officially sworn in as a Jersey City firefighter, with his proud parents — the Boss himself and wife Patti Scialfa — cheering him on from the front row.
Sam joined 14 others in his graduating class at the City Hall ceremony, bringing the Jersey City Fire Department to 666 uniformed members. “It was a long road, he’s very dedicated, quite a few years, and we are just excited for him today,” Springsteen told CBS New York.
The Springsteen family posed proudly with Sam after the swearing-in, including his brother Evan. Sam’s path to the department was anything but casual — he graduated from Monmouth County Fire Academy in 2014 and served as a volunteer firefighter at three different stations before reaching this milestone.
Scialfa marked the achievement months earlier with an Instagram tribute, writing: “CONGRATULATIONS …You followed your dreams… JC firefighter. Stay safe love your brave heart
.”
