Danica Patrick blasts Jimmy Kimmel after his return to ABC, says the clock is already ticking

Former IndyCar star Danica Patrick has sent a sharp warning to Jimmy Kimmel after ABC reinstated his late-night show following a suspension over comments about conservatives’ reaction to Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

Kimmel had been off the air since last Wednesday after saying on his show that the “MAGA gang” was trying to portray Kirk’s accused killer, Tyler Robinson“as anything other than one of them” and to use the tragedy for political points

Patrick has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel’s show in the past.

Disney, ABC’s parent company, called the remarks “ill-timed and thus insensitive.” Still, the network confirmed Kimmel would return to his post, a move that has already sparked backlash from Trump supporters.

Danica’s Response

Patrick, 43, who has become increasingly vocal in her support for Donald Trump, took to Instagram to address Kimmel’s reinstatement.

“Totally fine,” she wrote. “An employer has a choice to hire and fire and run a business. I don’t think he is as funny as he used to be, but that little problem will take care of itself in time.”

Patrick didn’t hold back, adding: “He will either start making real jokes and not stupid distasteful emotional jabs or he won’t… All that is ever at play is money. And you better believe if it’s not flowing, something goes. Clock is ticking again.”

She also noted that during her own racing career, she avoided political commentary: “When I raced I never talked about politics and religion. I understood the unspoken agreement to be PC.”

Kimmel’s Controversial Comments

On his show, Kimmel acknowledged national mourning over Kirk’s death, including President Trump’s order to lower flags to half-staff, but then mocked Trump’s response. The backlash was swift, with critics accusing the host of crossing a line as the conservative movement mourned one of its rising stars.

Patrick’s Political Shift

Patrick has only recently stepped into politics, admitting last year she had never voted before. But in October she announced she was casting her first ballot for Trump, praising him as a businessman who “gets stuff done.”

She initially endorsed Robert F. Kennedy Jr., but after he withdrew to join Trump’s ticket, she threw her support fully behind Trump’s bid to return to the White House.

What’s Next for Kimmel?

As Kimmel resumes his role, questions remain about how long ABC will stand by him if ratings or advertiser pressure falter. For Patrick, the answer is simple: “Clock is ticking.”
