2) Recent Survey Reveals Many Americans Favor Impeaching Donald Trump

Trump already holds the distinction of being the first U.S. president to be impeached twice. The House first impeached him in December 2019 over his phone call with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in which he allegedly sought military aid in exchange for an investigation into Joe Biden. He was acquitted by the Senate in February 2020.

The second impeachment followed the January 6 Capitol riots, accusing Trump of inciting an insurrection. He was acquitted again in February 2021.

Shocking Poll Results
The Lake Research Partners poll, commissioned by Free Speech For People, surveyed likely 2026 voters in key congressional swing districts.

46% support impeaching Trump

45% expressed strong support

56% disapprove of Trump’s work as president

The polling firm described the findings as “remarkable and unprecedented,” noting the high level of impeachment support so early in a presidential term.

Grounds for a Third Impeachment
Constitutional lawyers behind the “Impeach Trump Again” campaign have outlined 25 potential grounds. Some of the most cited actions include:

Threats and Military Overreach
Trump ordered federal interventions in U.S. cities, including Washington, D.C., deploying the National Guard to enforce law and order. He later threatened Chicago, sparking concerns over potential misuse of military force.

Targeting Political Rivals
Critics say Trump has hollowed out federal agencies like the DOJ and FBI, using them to target political opponents. Federal prosecutor Erik Siebert resigned after refusing to pursue cases against rivals, including NY Attorney General Letitia James and former FBI Director James Comey. Trump then appointed his inexperienced former lawyer, Lindsey Halligan, to replace Siebert.

Attacks on Media and Free Speech
Campaigners accuse Trump of attacking the First Amendment. He publicly threatened ABC affiliates airing Jimmy Kimmel’s show after Kimmel criticized Trump’s handling of recent events, including the Charlie Kirk incident.

Aggressive Immigration Policies
Trump has aggressively expanded ICE raids and deportations, including attempts to deport refugee children without due process. His new detention facility in Florida, nicknamed “Alligator Alcatraz,” has raised human rights concerns. Trump has promised the largest deportation operation in U.S. history, with $170 billion in funding.

Critics Warn of an Existential Threat
Courtney Hostetler, Legal Director at Free Speech For People, said Trump is dismantling public institutions and undermining the Constitution. John Bonifaz, the group’s co-founder, called Trump’s actions an “existential moment” for American democracy, urging Congress to act and initiate impeachment proceedings.
