Texas Teen Finds Dog Alive in Washer After Deadly Flood
High school senior Cody Vlasek lost his family home in Hunt, Texas, during the devastating July 4 floods. As the water rose rapidly, his family escaped to higher ground—but had to leave their dog behind.
Days later, while searching through the wreckage, Cody discovered a miracle: his dog alive and floating inside their washing machine.
Though relieved by the rescue, the family mourns others lost in the flood, which killed 129 people. New flash floods have since hit Kerr and Gillespie Counties, prompting urgent warnings from the National Weather Service.
Areas like Hunt and Camp Mystic, where 27 girls and counselors died, remain on high alert.
