Michael Keaton draws backlash for remarks on Charlie Kirk’s assassination

Charlie Kirk’s Tragic Death Shocks the Nation

The world reacted with shock after conservative political activist and commentator Charlie Kirk was fatally shot. The 31-year-old, a well-known Trump supporter, was killed on September 10 during a campus debate at Utah Valley University.

Authorities report that Kirk was hit in the neck by a single rifle shot fired from a rooftop roughly 200 yards away.

Arrest and Charges

Police quickly arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson from Utah in connection with the shooting. According to People, Robinson now faces aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, violent offense in the presence of a child, and two counts each of obstruction of justice and witness tampering.

Celebrity Reactions Spark Backlash

While thousands mourned Kirk, several celebrities drew criticism for inappropriate remarks.

  • Ava Raine, daughter of Dwayne Johnson, faced backlash for sharing a post seen as indirectly referencing Kirk.

  • UK punk band Bob Vylan openly called him a “piece of s***.”

  • MSNBC analyst Matthew Dowd was removed from his role after discussing “hateful thoughts” about Kirk.

Michael Keaton Faces Scrutiny

Actor Michael Keaton also came under fire. At the Investigative Reporters and Editors’ 50th anniversary gala on September 15, Keaton reflected on the “irony” of Kirk’s death, noting his pro-gun stance and opposition to gun control.

Keaton acknowledged Kirk’s family in his speech:

“Regardless of how I disagreed with many things he said, Charlie Kirk leaves behind two kids and a wife. You gotta remember that. Shooting people will never answer anything, and the irony that he was killed with a gun is unbelievable.”

Fans React

Kirk’s supporters quickly criticized Keaton. Comments online ranged from calling him “a moron” to “garbage.” One person wrote:

“This is why so many people checked out of watching anything Hollywood creates. Third-grade education on display again.”

Another added:

“The only irony is that far-left subhumans who scream for gun control keep using guns to hurt innocent, law-abiding Americans. Hypocrite.”

Public Opinion Remains Divided

Charlie Kirk was a polarizing figure, and his death has amplified the nation’s divide. Public opinion continues to split sharply on his legacy and the reactions from celebrities.
