A massive wildfire in Ocean County, New Jersey, has burned over 15,000 acres, prompting New York City to issue an air quality alert due to toxic smoke drifting across state lines.

Officials warn that the smoke contains dangerous fine particles (PM2.5) and cancer-linked chemicals like PAHs, posing serious health risks—especially to children, the elderly, and people with heart or lung conditions.
